Young Waco Motorcyclist Dies in Crash

A 20-year old motorcyclist died in Waco Thursday after colliding with a pickup truck.

About the Accident

According to officials, the motorcyclist was heading northbound on New Road near the intersection New Road and Watt Avenue when his motorcycle, a 2006 Suzuki, hit the side of a Ford F-250 pickup as the pickup truck’s driver was pulling onto New Road from the parking lot of the Gift Horse store.
The motorcyclist was identified by the police as Robert Charles Taplin III, 20, of Waco. Police said that Taplin wasn’t wearing a helmet, and speed may have been a factor in the accident. Nadia Galindo of KWTX reported that McLennan County Justice of the Peace Pete Peterson pronounced Taplin dead at the scene.
The pickup truck driver was not harmed.
